Perforce to acquire infrastructure as code pioneer Puppet

Infrastructure automation software business Puppet has been acquired by Perforce for an undisclosed sum. Perforce is dependable for a suite of well known developer and devops applications, most notably Helix.

Puppet’s 500 workers, brand name, and application suite will go on to operate as a standalone small business device inside of Perforce for now. 

Launched in Portland, Oregon, in 2005, Puppet rose to fame in the early times of infrastructure as code, together with the likes of Chef, Ansible, and Salt. It has because pivoted into broader infrastructure automation and compliance applications.

This acquisition usually means that all four of those corporations have been obtained in the previous eight years, following Red Hat purchased Ansible in 2015, VMware acquired SaltStack in 2020, and Chef was acquired by Development for $220 million in 2020.
